We have dabbled in the ovine realm. Late in 2015 we realised that a meadow needs cutting. (Have you spotted the accumulating learning points?) Our friend Barry offered us his small flock of 6 Shetlands and 8 Rylands to eat the meadow instead. Another friend Mike offered his quad bike and sheep trailer to move them.

Then John, Barry and Mike set about trying to catch the sheep to bring them to Liddells. Much, much later in the day the sheep were installed in their new restaurant. They did a great job and went back home some weeks later, well fed.

The next year we cut the Wildflower Meadow for hay, however the much larger Top Grazing needed eating off in the back end. This time we borrowed 71 ewes from a kindly neighbouring farmer who handled all transport arrangements.

With cutting the meadow for hay, and with the ponies established on the Top Grazing, we may not need this arrangement in future.
